Medical Treatment

After a fight where Benjamin has thrown a train at Paxton, Benjamin sat in time out until he calmed down and then went to apologize and play with Paxton.

Benjamin: I'm sorry Paxton.

Paxton: Benjamin, can you please go back in the other room? I need to concentrate on making my foot feel better.

Anatomy Lesson

While at lunch today Benjamin and I were coloring with the crayons graciously provided by On the Border...

Benjamin: Draw a picture of Mommy.

Mommy: Okay Benjamin. (Mommy begins to draw an incredibly accurate stick figure)

Benjamin: I draw your pinga mommy.

Mommy: No Benjamin, mommy doesn't have a pinga.

Benjamin: No, I draw your pinga.

Paxton: (Exasperated) No Benjamin. Don't draw mommy's pinga. You have to draw her yoni.

Who's the Baby in the Family?

Many of you know that we've been very excited about a new baby on Josh's side of the family. His cousin Erin and her husband Alex welcomed a beautiful baby boy at the end of April. Little Jack.

I have been very anxious to meet this little guy, and as many of you know I like to get handsy with babies. They're just so little!

Anyway, we finally met Little Jack this past Sunday for Mother's Day. After cuddling with him some and giving him as much attention as I could (which wasn't much considering he slept most of the time which I am convinced was just to spite me) it was time to say goodbye.

While I was holding Jack...

Benjamin: Don't bring him home, mommy.

Finders Keepers

(while discussing with Gackie what to do if Paxton ever becomes lost)

Gackie: Paxton, if you ever can't find Mommy or Daddy, you have to go find a policeman.

Joshua: Actually, our pediatrician told us not to tell Paxton that. Kids his age can't tell the difference between a police uniform and a UPS driver's uniform.

Gackie: Oh.

Joshua: Paxton, if you ever can't find me or Mommy, who do you go to talk to?

Paxton: A lady with another baby.

Joshua: That's right.

Gackie: That's good.

Paxton: ... and then you get new parents.

Literally

I love it when other people share their Paxton stories...

From Shanna, Paxton's teacher:

Some days my job makes me laugh: overheard at lunch...the kids are talking about teddy grahams.

Kid #1: Is there soy in those?
Kid #2: No - just teddy.

The conversation was between Paxton and Morgan. Paxton is kid #2 and he was dead serious.

The Sound of Silence

The other evening we had some friends over and while digging everything out of the toy box so he can show his friends, Paxton ran across his hearing protection ear muffs which look something like this:

Of course they're rather large for his head, but he loves them especially when going through a car wash, Daddy's mowing the lawn, or around fireworks.

Now with the exposition out of the way here's the scene...Josh is standing outside the bathroom. Hearing Paxton talking, Josh cracks open the door to find Paxton wearing his earmuffs and clearly talking to himself...

Paxton: (amazed) I can't even hear my pee splashing.
