The Sum of All Things

Mommy: How many arms do you have Paxton?

Paxton: Two

Mommy: How many fingers do you have?

Paxton: Five

Mommy: And how many do you have on your other hand?

Paxton: Five

Mommy: And how many do you have total?

Paxton: I don't know.

Mommy: You have ten total.

Paxton: (silly Mommy) I'm not a TURTLE!

God Bless Us Everyone

While watching the A Christmas Story marathon. Yes I'm one of those people.

Paxton: I'm liking this movie.

Mommy: (Looking at Joshua like "could he be cuter", then back at Paxton.) I love you Paxton.

Paxton: I love you Mommy.

Mommy: (smiling like an idiot) Merry Christmas, Paxton.

Paxton: Merry Christmas, Mommy.

As I'm on the verge of giving him a car, a pony, or assassinate someone upon request and with tears in my eyes...

Paxton: I'm a smart boy.

No kidding.

Happy Holidays!

Family Ties

My cousin Sam recently posted the following picture from 1977:

Mommy: Look, Paxton. It's a picture full of Paxtons. That's Sam Paxton, Logan Paxton, Tracy Paxton, and Trudy Paxton.

Paxton: Where's regular Paxton?

Hygiene

After bathtime while cleaning Paxton's ears...

Paxton: Is that so I can hear you say "No"?

Our Big Boy

Paxton has recently become pretty adept at putting on his own clothes (when we have the patience for him to do it himself...it takes a while but he gets it right in the end.)

After wrangling with a pair of Thomas the Tank Engine underwear for a bit, putting them on backwards, and then turning them around...

Paxton: Look Mommy the peek-a-boo hole is in the front.

Mommy: Good job Paxton.

Paxton: I'm a princess now.

Potty Training

Yesterday (11/21/08)

Mommy:
Go potty Paxton.

Paxton: Look mommy I made pee pee.

Mommy: Try to go poopy too please.

(Paxton holds his breath)

Paxton: Look mommy I made poopy! It's a duckie.

Today (11/22/08)

Paxton: I need to go poopy.

Mommy: Hurry lets go to the potty!

(Paxton holds his breath)

Paxton: Look it's a snake.

Who knew poopy is really a 3-year-old Rorschach Test?

A Real Mensch

For the past two years Paxton has attended daycare at our temple Anshe Emeth. Apparently he's picking up a thing or two. He found some spare change sitting on an end table.

Paxton: Look mommy.

Mommy: Yes sweetie, I see it. It's change.

Paxton: It's mine.

Mommy: No, Paxton. Put it in the change jar.

Paxton: No, I'm putting it in my pocket. It's tzedakah.

No Gender Bias? No Problem.

Today.

Paxton: I'm a girl. You're a boy.

Michael: (striking himself on the chest) I'M A GIRL TOO!

I'm glad Michael's mom thought it was funny.

Nose Holes

Welcome to our new family blog. This is mostly to enjoy Paxton (and eventually Benjamin's) musings on why things are the way they are. And after today's conversation, I thought what better way to begin than with Paxton's thoughts for the day.

It began with the discussion of Paxton's 3-year check-up...

Paxton: We're going to see Dr. Lerner?

Mommy: Yes, is that ok?

Paxton: What's he gonna do?

Mommy: He's going to weigh you and see how tall you are. And he's going to probably look in your ears and your mouth.

Paxton: And my nose?

Mommy: Maybe. Is that ok?

Paxton: My nose holes are small. That's why my fingers are small.
